Environmental Sequencing?

Culturing and PCR have not yet revealed pathogens which may be responsible for the sword fern die-off.  Here are some readings and references, gathered unsystematically from the recent literature, about the use of next-generation, environmental sequencing and microarrays for identifying pathogens.

  2. Putative pathogenicity genes of Phytophthora cinnamomi identified via RNA-Seq analysis of pre-infection structures
  3. Moleculo long-read sequencing facilitates assembly and genomic binning from complex soil metagenomes
