Erik Kingfisher, Director of the
Jefferson Land Trust, along with his daughter Samara, paid a citizen science visit a few weeks ago to Fort Warden State Park, at the northeast tip of the Olympic Peninsula. They verified observations made by Kitsap resident Heidi Danlicheck in October.

ReplyDeleteI visited Fort Worden on February 17th. As best I can tell, there may have been drought-related decline, perhaps a couple of bad years, but now the ferns appear to have all recovered. I could find none of the brown stubbly crowns which are the strongest indicator of sword fern die-off
